2021 Squash NSW Junior Talent and Development Squad

The Squash NSW Junior Talent and Development Squad provides a structured program for junior players within NSW to develop their skills as a squash player.

The program gives players the opportunity to participate in the performance pathway for selection in the Squash NSW Junior State Team to represent NSW at the Australian Junior Championships.  In 2021, the Australian Junior Championships will be held at Woden Squash Centre in Canberra from 26 September – 2 October.

The Squad is open to all Squash NSW Junior players. Players wishing to be considered eligible for selection into the Squash NSW Junior State Team must meet the below eligibility criteria and complete a registration form to apply.

Squash NSW Junior State Team selection is announced during the presentations at the completion of the Squash NSW Junior State Titles.  In 2021, the Squash NSW Junior State Titles will be held at Thornleigh Squash Centre on 17-18 July.


NSW State Team Eligibility Criteria

Please ensure that when planning your schedule for the year you ensure that all criteria is ticked off. Failure to meet the below criteria will result in an ineligibility to be selected in the State Team.

    Membership and Forms (*must be completed before first camp attendance)

  • Financial member of Squash NSW
  • Squash NSW Junior Talent and Development Squad registration form

    Tournaments

   Players must participate in the following tournaments to be considered for the Squash NSW Junior State Team:

  • 1 x 2021 Silver tournament
  • 1 x 2021 Silver or above tournament
  • 1 x 2021 Bronze tournament
  • 1 x 2021 Squash NSW Junior State Titles

    Junior State Squad Camps

  • 1 x regional camps
  • 2 x compulsory camps (between State Titles and AJC)

    Behavioural

  • Demonstration of exemplary behaviours and sportsmanship on and off the court over the last 12 months.

*Please note that the eligibility criteria may be subject to change if necessary at the discretion of Squash NSW due to restrictions or other impediments caused by the COVID-19 pandemic or other unexpected circumstances.

Exemptions

Exemptions to the eligibility criteria may be considered on receival of a completed Exception Application Form which must be sent to the Selection Committee prior to Squash NSW Junior State Titles commencing.

Please advise the Squash NSW Junior State Coach of any possible issues as soon as possible so a plan can be implemented. This may require evidence of commitment to training and competing in other ways and will be negotiated according to circumstances.

Conditions under which exemptions will be considered are as follows, and evidence is mandatory:

  1. Health & Medical issues
  2. Short term injury
  3. National Selection
  4. Work and study commitments
  5. Financial hardship
